Introduction

Anki Course

Anki Manual

Anki’s algorithm was built to help you memorize a ton of information. The program is commonly used by medical students to learn everything they need to know. In fact, many med students use Anki as their main study resource. Anki is also popular among people trying to learn a new language.

Even though Anki is a very powerful tool, it has a steep learning curve. However, this free course will guide you step-by-step teaching you everything you need to know to effectively use Anki.

Everyone studying for the MCAT should watch every video in this course. We recommend watching the videos in order. This will ensure you understand everything covered since the content builds upon itself. Even those who have previous experience with Anki should watch every video because much of the information discussed relates specifically to the MCAT. The course is relatively short, and very effective at making you an Anki master.

If you enjoy the course, please share it with your friends and colleagues. You can help countless others get access to this free information by posting a link to the signup page on your MCAT groups, pre-med groups, or other study groups.

Course Organization

The first module will introduce you to Anki. You will learn how the Anki algorithm works through spaced repetition, the forgetting curve, and a special part of the code called Ease Factor. Then, you will learn how to download Anki and how to download the MCAT for Victory Anki deck. Lastly, you will learn how to download the required and recommended add-ons to make your learning experience even better.

The second module will show you how to use Anki properly. You will first learn all the Anki terminology, which will make the content for the rest of the videos much easier to understand. Then, you will learn how to change the settings, how to use the browser, how to make new decks and cards, how to see your statistics, and how to customize the look of Anki.

The third module will show you how to maximize your potential. In this module, the MCAT for Victory Anki deck is compared to the other popular decks available, and you will see what a good Anki study schedule looks like.

The last module is a free preview of the MCAT for Victory course. There are five introductory videos, and there is one video for each of the three-science section. The science section videos are representative of the course and were chosen at random.

By the time you finish the course, you will feel confident in your Anki knowledge, and you will be ready to begin your studies.

Persistence

Before moving forward, I want to mention that while most people will significantly benefit from using Anki, the program is not for everyone. Many students have gotten incredible MCAT scores before Anki ever even existed.

To effectively use this program, you have to be very persistent and dedicated. The program will tell you exactly which cards to study every single day, so falling behind means cards will continue building up. If you fall too far behind, you will develop a backlog of cards that is too large to complete. This means you need to be ready to finish all your flashcards every day until your MCAT.

Some people talk about Anki as if it was a “magic” program that will easily make you memorize anything you want. However, the truth is that Anki is a powerful tool that takes a lot of work to use effectively. As a pre-med student, I know you are not afraid of work. Additionally, using Anki properly will end up saving you a ton of time and you will be able to memorize far more information than using any other study technique.

You need to know that Anki may feel like a chore some days, but it will be worth the effort if you stick with it until the end. I strongly encourage everyone studying for the MCAT to give Anki an honest try for at least a few weeks. Learning the program now for the MCAT will help you get a great score, and it will prepare you to use the program during medical school.

Still, nothing is more important than your mental and physical health. Repetitively doing flashcards every single day can take a toll. Fortunately, there are certain features called add-ons that we will discuss later this module that can help ease the burden of the flashcards.
